My name is Nikita. I used to be a spy, an assassin for a covert unit of the U.S. government, but it went rogue and so did I. I've spent the last four years bringing them down one mission at a time. For fourteen days, I've been stranded on a tropical island that's part purgatory, part prison colony. They tell me no one can leave, even though people disappear all the time. That's what they said about Division, too. I have Michael's knife now and that always means the mission isn't over. It's time to breach the Compound...
I'm a big girl now, Michael. I don't need a good luck charm.
Take it, anyway, he'd told her. Take it and give it back at the end of the mission. She'd kept it, even after Michael came back to her, right up until Brandt stripped her of it.
So if it's here now, maybe... Maybe. That's why she has to go into the Compound. Michael might be in there, injured or being held. The knife might be a message from him or a trap set for her, no matter that Cassandra (of course, that name) had insisted it was just a trick of the island's. Even if it is, it's clear she's stuck here for awhile. Which means she needs to start working her cover. Nina LaFleur (for Michael's fleur-de-lys). Foreign war correspondent. First stop, the "magic" box of clothes. Maybe she can find something in her own size. Something either Nina or Nikita would be caught dead wearing.
There are no guards posted outside the Compound and in all of her surveillance she's never seen any inside. Either security is incredibly lax or they're relying on cameras. Nikita works the blind spots as she slips inside, moves through the halls and down to where the box is kept. It's not stealthy and she's not noticeably trying to hide. Only an expert would notice when she approaches the box to crouch beside it, that she's been keeping her face from possible cameras.
